We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support children in the Foundation Phase at a vibrant and welcoming Welsh-medium primary school located in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children in the Foundation Phase (Nursery to Year 2). Your time will be split between:

  • General Classroom Support: Assisting the class teacher during the morning sessions by providing support to the whole class.
  • 1:1 Support: In the afternoons, you will work closely with a child in Year 1, providing tailored 1:1 support to assist with their specific learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons.
  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate in class activities.
  • Help prepare and maintain a stimulating classroom environment.
  • Work closely with other staff members to ensure the child's individual needs are met.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support.
  • Support with outdoor learning activities in line with the Foundation Phase curriculum.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Ability to work 1:1 with children who may require additional support.
  • A caring, patient, and positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Welsh language skills are essential for this role.
  • All vetting requirements need to be completed, including a valid DBS and registration with the Education Workforce Council.
