Job Overview

Chesterman 1 is a dynamic Cardiology ward that provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and treatment services for the management of all aspects and presentations of coronary heart disease. The team collaborates with specialized services within Cardiology to deliver holistic, integrated treatments serving both local and regional districts.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management for Chesterman 1 in patient care provision.
  • Ensure 24-hour continuing responsibility for Chesterman 1.
  • Deliver the highest possible quality care within Chesterman 1, meeting individual patient expectations.

Requirements
  • RGN Level one.
  • NMC registered.
  • Completed national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Continuous professional development.
  • First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes).
Experience
  • Extensive post-registration experience in cardiology.
  • Relevant experience at sister/charge nurse level.
  • Specialist training relevant to working in an acute surgical setting.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a professional team.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Evidence of relevant post-basic training and continuous professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals, groups, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Good understanding of the national strategic context of the NHS.
  • Excellent performance management skills.
  • Highly developed leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills – ability to form positive relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage own and others' complex workloads under pressure and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Persuasion and influencing skills – ability to present ideas and proposals effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service, including bleep cover evenings and weekends.
