Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Reed Engineering. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant by performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing preventative maintenance strategies.
Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and replacements of equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, using your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure maximum machine availability.
- Record and track maintenance activities, including work orders and equipment performance data.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
- Identify and specify engineering parts and materials required for maintenance tasks.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of lean manufacturing practices to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Participate in training and upskilling activities to maintain and improve your technical knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- A relevant vocational qualification, such as an NVQ, ONC, HNC, HND, or C&G.
- Experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance, or a willingness to undertake cross-skilling training.
- Knowledge of furnace mechanics and control systems is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in machine tool maintenance and fault finding.
- Demonstrable experience in a medium to heavy manufacturing environment.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
