Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEMH Secondary School in Knutsford. As a Behaviour Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective strategies to promote positive behaviour and social skills among students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with challenging behaviour, helping them to develop coping strategies and social skills.
  • Implement behaviour management plans and individualised support programs, tailored to each student's needs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages respect, understanding, and cooperation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, other support staff, parents and outside agencies to ensure consistent approaches to behaviour management across the school.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching team and parents/guardians.
  • Utilise appropriate de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when necessary.
  • Support students in developing self-regulation and emotional well-being.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in managing challenging behaviours in a school or educational setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques. Team Teach-qualified individuals are highly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience related to behaviour support and SEN.
