About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Leader Education. As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work with children and young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Visual and hearing impairment, EBD, Learning difficulties, and challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with complex needs on a 1:1 basis, promoting their emotional and mental well-being.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery, as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behavior or additional needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
