Job Summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Community Staff Nurse to join our School Nursing Team for the South Buckinghamshire Area. As a Community Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to children and young people in their homes and schools.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children, young people, and families, and will be able to demonstrate their ability to work to the scope of professional practice and use evidence-based practice. They will also have knowledge of the Health visiting and school nursing service delivery model and current issues that can impact on professional practice.

The post holder will benefit from a robust competency process, supervision, and extensive training. All new staff will be provided with agile working technology, and the team has successfully implemented virtual ways of working to support teams, children, and schools.

The position is based in the South of the county, with the main base being at Amersham Hospital. However, you may be required to travel across sites as part of your role.

About the Role

  • As a Community Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for undertaking child and family interventions, specifically with children and young people from 5-19 years, within both school and home environments.
  • You will work as part of a multi-skilled team and will be expected to delegate tasks and supervise others.
  • You will have excellent computer skills on a range of software applications and will be able to write detailed reports/referrals so that the child or young person can access the appropriate care and support.
  • You will be able to demonstrate sound judgement skills and use of initiative, and will be enthusiastic about professional and staff development.
  • You will have excellent organisational skills consistent with working autonomously and will be able to encompass and embrace changes in the working environment.
  • You will participate in interagency collaboration and will be willing to learn and develop new skills.
