Job Title: Relief Security Officer
Location: Mander Centre
Shift Pattern: Ad Hoc, Zero Hours Contract
Pay Rate: Competitive Hourly Rate
Job Overview:
Covering absences and providing security and safety support to the Mander Centre team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prevent accidents, injuries, crime, fire, and damage to the Centre's property.
- Work in accordance with site procedures, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
- Provide a visible deterrent and reassure the public.
- Aid in reducing crime and apprehend offenders when safe and legal to do so.
- Attend court to give evidence if necessary.
- Maintain a personal notebook in accordance with PACE Act 1984.
- Undertake duties in a safe and secure manner, considering personal safety and the safety of colleagues and the public.
- Provide an efficient, helpful, and smart image at all times.
- Alert the control room operator to suspicious individuals or packages.
- Check the mall and building for potential fire hazards.
- Do not take responsibility for tenant premises keys.
- Conduct mall patrols, including external areas as required.
- Do not patrol in pairs or stay in one place.
- Complete required patrols upon request from a supervisor.
- Monitor and check toilet areas.
- Enforce the Centre's code of conduct.
- Stop bicycles or skateboards from being ridden through the mall.
- Alert cleaners to spillages, full bins, or other situations requiring their attention.
- Keep the mess room clean and tidy after use.
- Challenge individuals entering the basement and ensure only authorized personnel are in the area.
- Do not permit deliveries through the mall after 09:00 am or if they pose a risk to customers.
- Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors or managers.
- Arrive on time and be ready for shift start.
- Maintain a neat appearance and dress in accordance with the ABM facility services dress code.
- Complete documents in line with site requirements.
- Escalate health and safety issues straight away to the control room.
- Report accidents or injuries to the shift running supervisor or senior team member.
- Take breaks as detailed by the shift running supervisor.
- Advise the Shared Services Manager if leaving site while on duty.
- Comply with absence reporting procedures.
- Follow correct opening and lock-up procedures and report any faults found.
- Be courteous to clients, tenants, customers, and other employees.
- Record incidents in the security DOB and personal notebook.
- Complete Incident Reports for reportable incidents to the required standard.
- Do not consume alcohol on company premises or report to work under the influence.
- Complete documentation with facts and not falsify records.
- Do not accept gifts or gratuities.
- Use mobile phones only for emergencies with permission from the line manager.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding company information and data.
- Complete any other reasonable requests from supervisors, coordinators, or Shared Services Manager.
Person Specification:
Essential: SIA Door Supervisor License (active)
Desirable: SIA CCTV License
