Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director of Development, Resources and Planning to join our team at Harvard University. This is a hybrid position that requires a unique blend of management, organizational strategy, and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage a cohort of FAS Development Support Staff, ensuring they have the highest level of support and a uniformly positive working experience.
  • Work with the Senior Associate Director of Development, Resources and Planning to create a cohesive management structure for frontline development assistants, including goal setting and performance management.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the development assistant cohort, including recruitment and hiring, onboarding, schedule and absence approval, and identifying tools and resources for success.
  • Conduct regular check-in meetings with development assistants to discuss workload, position satisfaction, performance, feedback, and questions.
  • Collaborate with frontline officers and management teams to discuss performance and support needs of the assigned development assistant cohort.
  • Work with Human Resources to address performance concerns, employee relations issues, compensation, policy translation, and compliance.
  • Develop onboarding and training plans to ensure development assistants have the skills needed for job success and professional growth.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in project/relationship management.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with staff during periods of significant change.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to apply good judgment, be nimble, and show discretion.
