We are seeking a skilled Algorithm Developer to join our team at Certain Advantage. As a member of our Guidance, Control & Navigation (GCN) team, you will play a critical role in developing Missile and Weapon Systems algorithms across a wide range of defense products.

Your primary responsibility will be to support studies managing the complex performance trades between software and hardware. You will also be involved in algorithm proving activities, including developing algorithms for autopilots, control systems, mid-course guidance, navigation, homing guidance, data fusion, artificial intelligence, and mission planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop specific algorithms or studies to support a key program.
  • Participate in concept studies, algorithm design and trade-off studies, trials preparation, trials analysis and reporting, architecture definition, algorithm and model validation.
  • Act as a point of contact for GCN's interactions with other project teams.
  • Perform technical analyses and investigations into a full range of issues and problems.
  • Engage with algorithm users to understand and respond to their needs.

Skillset/Experience Required:

  • Experience of algorithm development in a relevant area (such as guidance, control, data fusion, navigation and artificial intelligence).
  • Experience of Mathematical Modelling would be beneficial (such as flight dynamics, aerodynamics, sensors, and actuation systems).
  • A good understanding of simulation environments (e.g. MATLAB and Simulink, or similar) and programming languages (e.g. FORTRAN, Python).

This is a 12-month contract role, working on a 4-day week basis (Monday to Thursday), with the option to work from either our Bristol or Stevenage site.

Hourly Rate: £75ph
