Job Summary

DAC Beachcroft LLP is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Risk Solicitor to join our Newcastle office. As a key member of our Clinical Risk cluster, you will handle a challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence work, acting for a variety of clients, including NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts, medical malpractice insurers, and independent providers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and letters of response, conducting face-to-face negotiations and mediation of claims, and preparing counter schedules.
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice to clients on a day-to-day basis, serving as their primary point of contact.
  • Supervise and coach junior fee earners, promoting their professional development and growth within the team.
  • Contribute to non-fee earning activities, such as knowledge sharing, training, client seminars, and business development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, including financial management of files, billing regimes, and data security protocols.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in defendant or claimant clinical negligence, or defendant insurance law, with a strong understanding of the relevant legal frameworks and regulations.
  • Able to adopt a commercial perspective, prioritizing client needs and delivering results-driven solutions.
  • Team-oriented and collegiate, with experience in mentoring, coaching, and supervising less experienced team members.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously through an IT case management system.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a positive attitude towards implementing new initiatives and processes.
  • A detail-oriented individual with a focus on quality and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
