Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Multilingual Support Specialist to join our team at Coventry City Council. As a key member of our Children and Education Service, you will play a vital role in supporting newly arrived children to settle into school and begin to learn English.

This is a casual post, with the possibility of regular work depending on the needs of our schools and education providers. You will be required to work in nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges across the city, providing bilingual support to children who speak English as an Additional Language.

To be successful in this role, you must be fluent and literate in one or more of the languages listed below, and have a good command of written and spoken English. You should also be willing to travel to various locations across the city and attend ad hoc meetings.

Estimated Salary: £24,467 - £29,727 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience).

About the Role
  • Provide bilingual support to children who speak English as an Additional Language
  • Work in nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges across the city
  • Support newly arrived children to settle into school and begin to learn English

Language Requirements: Czech, Dari, Malayalam, Pashto, Slovak, Ukrainian

Requirements
  • Fitness for work involving occasional manual handling and working outdoors
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
  • Possession of a full driving licence (with access to a car)
