Senior Project Manager - Destination Strategy & Research

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to join our team at TOPOSOPHY, a leading placemaking and marketing agency. This role will involve spearheading tourism and destination strategy projects for our clients, collaborating closely with our team and clients to research and develop tailored strategies that align with their vision.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to leverage their expertise in destination management, marketing, and strategy development. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing and promoting destinations, with a focus on integrating sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of tourism and destination strategy projects, including research, analysis, and recommendations for improving the visitor experience and driving tourism growth.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs and goals, and develop customized strategies that align with those objectives.
  • Identify and analyze market trends and industry best practices, and incorporate this knowledge into strategy development.
  • Work with our creative team to develop compelling marketing materials and campaigns that promote the destination and attract visitors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the tourism industry, including destination marketing organizations, local businesses, and government entities.
  • Oversee project execution, including budget management and coordination of internal and external resources.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients on project progress and results.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies, and make adjustments as needed to ensure success.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • DMP Expertise: Direct involvement in the creation or contribution to at least 3 Destination Management Plans (DMPs) within the UK & Ireland in the past 3 years.
  • Research Acumen: Advanced proficiency in using the latest research tools and technologies, including data analytics platforms, consumer behavior tracking tools, and geospatial analysis tools.
  • Public Consultation Expertise: Demonstrated experience in design thinking methodologies for public and stakeholder consultation.
  • Valid Credentials: Possession of verifiable certifications or credentials in the aforementioned skills, adding weight to your expertise claims.
Qualifications
  • Masters or PhD degree in marketing, tourism, planning and development or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in tourism and destination marketing and/or strategy development.
  • Strong understanding of the tourism industry, including market trends and best practices.
  • Membership(s) of international organizations related to the fields described above.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential for this role.

  • Full-time, salaried position with benefits such as personal laptop, private health insurance, and performance bonus (subject to negotiation).
