Senior Geotechnical Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our team in Plymouth. As a key member of our Geo Division, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating geo assignments, including desk studies, ground investigations, and geotechnical risk assessments.
The Role:
You will act as the focal point of contact with colleagues in the SW region, across the range of disciplines represented within Hydrock. You will contribute to work-winning and business development in the SW and represent Hydrock in client meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage site investigation works in accordance with BS 5930 and 10175, ensuring health and safety compliance and accurate data collection.
- Prepare high-quality factual reports covering environmental and geotechnical aspects, with clear interpretation supported by data.
- Support colleagues in managing complex environmental or geotechnical aspects of projects.
- Project manage own assignments with decreasing support over time, while assisting colleagues as needed.
- Maintain good project financial control, promptly addressing variations and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Handle client queries professionally and promote Hydrock's services effectively.
Business Development:
- Support the team in producing fee proposals and promoting our wider capabilities.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen and client management skills.
- Identify and attend business development events to enhance company growth.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or related field.
- Sufficient and relevant experience, ideally gained in ground investigation, interpretation, and reporting.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in geoenvironmental and geotechnical consultancy.
- Working knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (BS 5930, 10175).
- Proficient in project management, financial control, and client relationship management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive attitude towards professional development and business growth.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
