About the Role

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is seeking a highly skilled Health Protection Specialist to join our dynamic public health team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of our statutory responsibilities for health protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assure local health protection programmes covering infection prevention and control, vaccination and immunisation, and health-related emergency planning.
  • Develop assurance processes, undertake analysis, and develop plans and strategies for health gain.
  • Collaborate with system partners to put plans in place to protect the public's health.
  • Provide public health advice, scrutiny, and challenge to ensure the local health protection system is robust and resilient.
  • Keep a watching brief for health hazards and threats.
  • Collaborate with others to warn, inform, and advise the public on how to keep well and avoid illness.
  • Provide assurance to the Director of Public Health (DPH) that plans are in place across the health and care system to protect people from threats and hazards to their health and to escalate risks when necessary.
