Specialist Radiologist in Cancer Imaging

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Radiologist to join our team at the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre (PSSC) based at Mount Vernon Hospital. The PSSC is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including a Dual Source/dual energy CT and three MRI scanners, allowing for cutting-edge diagnostic imaging services. The Centre is a registered charity and a leader in translational cancer imaging, providing opportunities for career progression and encouraging continuing professional development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and reporting on investigations performed using CT and MRI, with opportunities to develop research projects in the Centre. They will perform or interpret diagnostic imaging procedures, document procedure outcomes, and prepare comprehensive interpretive reports of findings. Effective communication with referring physicians, patients, and families is essential.
Main Responsibilities- Maintenance of high-quality patient-centered care
- Shared responsibility for day-to-day service management and participation in strategic planning
- Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
- Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance
- Continuing medical education and professional development
The ideal candidate will have completed at least 12 years of medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification, with a minimum of 6 years in a relevant Specialty. They should demonstrate an interest in, commitment to, and broad experience in Oncology, particularly cross-sectional imaging and subspecialty training. The candidate must be able to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion and show evidence of leading on patient safety issues and achieving practice changes.
The successful candidate will be a Full GMC registered doctor with a Licence to Practice, FRCR Membership or equivalent qualification, and evidence of being up to date and fit to practice safely, aware of own training needs.
