Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rheumatology Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team at the Haywood Rheumatology Centre, Stoke-on-Trent. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to research and education initiatives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Rheumatology, with experience in leading teams, teaching, and research. You will be expected to work closely with our medical, surgical, and paediatric colleagues to provide combined clinics and an on-call service for rheumatology. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent patient care, has excellent communication skills, and is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of rheumatological conditions
  • Lead clinical teams, including junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to research and education initiatives, including designing, leading, and contributing to clinical trials and studies
  • Work closely with our medical, surgical, and paediatric colleagues to provide combined clinics and an on-call service for rheumatology
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to improve patient care and outcomes

We are looking for someone who has:

Full GMC RegistrationGMC Licence to PracticeMedical QualificationMRCP or equivalentPhD, MSc, MD, or other higher degree (desirable)CCT/CESR for Rheumatology (desirable)Clinical expertise in RheumatologyAppropriate training as defined by the Royal College of PhysiciansCompletion of a recognised registrar training programme, or equivalent, in Rheumatology +/- GIMEvidence of relevant CPDEvidence-based practiceMembership of relevant specialist associations (desirable)GCP trained for research (desirable)Considerable clinical experience in all areas of RheumatologyExperience leading teams in RheumatologyExperience in teachingExperience in multi-disciplinary researchAbout Us
