About the Role:
The Roseate Reading is seeking a highly skilled Sommelier to join our team. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for promoting wine sales through staff and customer education, as well as providing exceptional service to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ordering wines and maintaining the wine stock
- Creating a wine list and writing wine descriptions
- Suggesting food and wine pairings to servers and customers
- Recommending wines based on customer preferences
- Training waitstaff on wines
- Conducting wine tastings for staff and customers
- Hosting winery tours
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and sales skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Excellent personal hygiene
- Adherence to alcohol handling laws and regulations
- Interest in continuing education
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
