About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Sommelier to join our team at The Roseate Reading, a luxury hotel in Berkshire. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine service to our guests, promoting wine sales through staff and customer education, and creating an unforgettable experience for our visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Ordering and managing the wine stock
  • Maintaining the wine list and writing wine descriptions
  • Suggesting food and wine pairings to servers and customers
  • Recommending wines based on customer preferences
  • Training waitstaff on wines and conducting wine tastings for staff and customers
  • Hosting winery tours and events
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of wines and ability to recall complex information about different types of wines, wine pairings and tasting notes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to train waitstaff on wines and provide exceptional customer service
  • Passion for wine and commitment to ongoing education and professional development
