About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Section Planner to join our team at Network Rail. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing detailed work plans that meet the needs of our section managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and optimise all agreed work activities for the section, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
  • Accurately update systems, databases, and records as required, maintaining the highest level of data integrity.
  • Produce Safe System of Work plans, ensuring that all necessary safety protocols are in place.
  • Submit green zone access and isolation requests, ensuring that all necessary permissions are obtained.
  • Produce draft quarterly plans, providing a clear vision for the section's future activities.
  • Manage weekly Plan-Do-Review meetings, ensuring that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals.
  • Represent Section Managers at planning meetings, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Collate and maintain infrastructure maintenance records, ensuring that all necessary information is up-to-date.
  • Administer rosters and timesheets, ensuring that all team members are accurately recorded and paid.
  • Support the administration of the Assessment in The Line process, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken.
  • Set up and maintain efficient filing systems for the Section, ensuring that all necessary documents are easily accessible.
  • Undertake general office administration duties for the Section Manager, providing expert support and guidance as needed.
Requirements
  • Work Plan production and resource optimisation skills, with a strong understanding of planning and scheduling systems.
  • Scheduling profile in work planning/scheduling system, with the ability to create and manage complex schedules.
  • Core Planning Skills Level 2, with a strong understanding of planning principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of access and possession processes and systems, with the ability to manage and maintain accurate records.
  • Safe System of Work Planning Process and System, with a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Experience of clerical support and office management, with a strong understanding of administrative procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant IT systems, with the ability to use a range of software applications.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with a strong sense of autonomy and self-motivation.
