Environmental Compliance Manager (DSEAR)

Salary: Competitive salary, 15% bonus potential, £6,809 car allowance per annum, health care and 22.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Contract: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Permanent National role with UK travel

With a portfolio of over 1,800 properties, Royal Mail's estate is one of the largest corporate estates in Europe. To maintain high safety standards, we are seeking a Compliance Manager to lead all matters related to Environmental Compliance and adherence to DSEAR regulations and ACOP across the diverse Royal Mail estate.

As the Technical Subject Matter Expert, you will manage and deliver compliance and remediation across our estate. You will collaborate with the Health, Safety & Environmental functions to develop and implement the Environment and DSEAR strategy, standards, assurance regimes, and supporting programs. Your focus will be on ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best practices within environmental management and DSEAR areas and complete risk management of key environmental impacts.

You will be responsible for developing a compliance framework evidencing statutory and mandatory compliance, ensuring the work is completed to the required quality. You will also identify and investigate trends for reactive maintenance, conduct root cause analysis, and make recommendations.

Additionally, you will attend customer or business meetings to review performance issues, contribute, and be accountable for actions. You will participate in industry networking channels, benchmarking, and professional bodies to ensure continuous improvement in customer service.

You will be part of the senior management on-call escalation and Out of Hours Duty Manager rota. You will be accountable for the budget and fiscal management for Environmental and DSEAR activities.

Requirements include a BSc MSc in Environmental/DSEAR or equivalent, IOSH or NEBOSH qualified, and up-to-date accreditations in associated disciplines relating to Environmental and DSEAR. You will have experience managing all technical aspects of Environment and DSEAR, including the implementation of ISO management processes and systems. You will also have experience with environmental and potential explosive substances and atmospheres compliance requirements.

You will have the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, translating environmental requirements into required actions. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills to develop and deliver a plan of work.
