Environmental Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. As the Technical Subject Matter Expert, you will manage and deliver compliance and remediation across our estate. You will collaborate with the Health, Safety & Environmental functions to develop and implement the Environment and DSEAR strategy, standards, assurance regimes, and supporting programs.
Your focus will be on ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best practices within environmental management and DSEAR areas and complete risk management of key environmental impacts e.g. fuel, gas, oil etc.
Key Responsibilities- SME and legal 'Responsible Person' accountable for the delivery of 'Environmental & DSEAR' Compliance across the Royal Mail Estate providing specialist expertise.
- Develop a compliance framework aimed at evidencing statutory and mandatory compliance, ensuring the work is completed to the required quality.
- Identify and investigate trends for reactive maintenance, conduct root cause analysis, technical fault finding and make recommendations.
- Attend customer or business meetings to review performance issues, contribute and be accountable for actions.
- Participate in industry networking channels/benchmarking/professional bodies to ensure that our customer service interface continually innovates and improves.
- Be part of the senior management on call escalation and Out of Hours Duty Manager rota.
- Accountable for the budget and fiscal management for Environmental and DSEAR activities across the Royal Mail estate.
You need to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and experiences on your CV:
- BSc/ MSc in Environmental/DSEAR or equivalent (essential), IOSH (essential) or NEBOSH qualified.
- Up to date accreditations in associated disciplines relating to Environmental and DSEAR (essential).
- Experience managing all technical aspects of Environment and DSEAR including the implementation of ISO management process and systems (essential).
- Experience of environmental and potential explosive substances and atmospheres compliance requirements, risk and management system application.
- Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, to translate environmental requirements into required actions at an operational level.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to be able to develop and deliver a plan of work.
