Job Summary:

Martin Anthony is working with a highly successful client based in Manchester that is looking for a Calibration Officer to be responsible for the calibration of a wide range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, in accordance with ISO 17025.

About the Company:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate calibration of laboratory equipment, in accordance with ISO 17025.
  • Cooperating with laboratory staff on calibrations where appropriate.
  • Maintenance of the calibration records on the internal site equipment database.
  • Contribution to the development of a new Group equipment database.
  • Calibration, control and allocation of reference standard equipment.
  • Compiling, signing, organizing and reviewing of calibration certificates, both internal and external.
  • Organizing, shipping and quote reviewing of all external calibrations.
  • Calculation of uncertainty budgets for calibration procedures.
  • Involvement in the review and development of calibration procedures for existing and new equipment.
  • Providing calibration support to the laboratory managers/staff especially for the commissioning and validation of new equipment and processes.
  • Additional duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of calibration ideally with significant practical experience.
  • Knowledge of Uncertainty of Measurement and Decision Rules would be advantageous but not essential, full training internally will be given, and external training courses also on offer.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critical and analytical thinking, combined with excellent attention to detail.
  • Degree educated or qualified through experience.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Planning and organization skills with the ability to schedule and coordinate activities.
  • Time management skills with ability to work under pressure to tight timescales and deadlines.
  • Previous experience working with technical standards.
  • Have experience of working in an ISO 17025 environment, preferably in a technical role. Ability to practically apply these requirements to a laboratory setting.
  • The successful candidate will need to be prepared to adopt a hands-on approach and ensure that work is progressed quickly whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality for a safety-critical industry.
