About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thoracic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients with lung cancer and thoracic surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with lung cancer and thoracic surgical patients, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
  • Work closely with thoracic surgeons, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and patient outcomes.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers to promote informed decision-making and self-management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and develop treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and effective communication and care coordination.
Requirements
  • Active 1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • 1st Degree in nursing or health-related subject, with a willingness to undertake or working towards a relevant accredited post-registration qualification at level 3.
  • Relevant post-registration experience in nursing, with a specialization in thoracic surgery or lung cancer care.
  • Proven leadership and management experience, with a commitment to teaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
