Expert Material Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Process Development Scientist to join our team at ADLIB Recruitment | B Corp™.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading London-based Material Science company that is pushing the boundaries of innovation and commercialization. As a Process Development Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing bio-based materials and production methods, working closely with our trans-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experimental Design: Conduct high-throughput experiments to develop and optimize bio-based materials and production methods.
- Quantitative Research: Oversee experimentation from lab to pilot scale.
- Data Analysis: Interpret data and provide recommendations for product and process improvements.
- Process Scaling: Optimize scalable, eco-friendly manufacturing processes through hands-on experimentation and research.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project success.
- Research Communication: Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders on progress and findings.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Either a PhD in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry with 2+ years of industry experience, or 5+ years of direct industry experience without a PhD.
- Strong expertise in materials processing, especially in bio-based materials, and a solid understanding of biological systems in process applications.
- Experience in process development, optimization, and scaling from lab to production, and proficiency in quantitative research methods, high-throughput experimentation, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Experience in converting waste and renewable ingredients into materials using skills such as biomass pre-treatment, pulp breakdown, and purification.
This role will be based full-time in Bermondsey, and the salary is competitive with the likelihood to extend beyond the initial 18-month Fixed-Term Contract.
