About the Role:

The Principal Engineer – Metrology position at BAE Systems is a unique opportunity to lead our calibration team in delivering high-level calibration and repair of mechanical test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise calibration and repair of TMDE, including resource management and calibration workload signoff
  • Develop and review calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets
  • Participate in UKAS (ISO 17025) audits and achieve UKAS signatory status
  • Deliver on-the-job training and experiential learning to apprentices and team members
  • Communicate with technical stakeholders on new measurement technologies

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in precision mechanical metrology laboratory environments
  • Understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 17025 / ISO 9001)
  • Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
