Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Factors Specialist to lead our Human Factors Group in providing expert advice and research to optimize the functioning of new and existing systems within the Royal Navy and wider Ministry of Defence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the staff and resources of the Human Factors Group in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Field queries, develop new work, provide Human Factors subject matter advice, and develop a Human Factors insight and approach to contribute to enhancing the health, safety, and efficiency of Defence personnel.
  • Supervise and quality assure activities conducted and outputs produced by the Human Factors Group.
  • Engage with stakeholders, subject matter expertise support to working groups, interdepartmental liaison, external liaison with Human Factors networks.
  • Support accident investigations by providing specialist ergonomics/Human Factors expertise and advice.
  • Represent the MoD(N) on NATO groups and other working parties so that their aims are met effectively.

Requirements

  • Chartered membership of either the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the Chartered Institute of Human Factors and Ergonomics (CIEHF) is an expectation.
  • A postgraduate qualification in either Ergonomics or Psychology is essential for this post.
  • Leadership, Communicating and Influencing, Making Effective Decisions, SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING Apply scientific/technical knowledge, SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING Overseeing the technical work of others.
