Te Rau Herenga o Aotearoa Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (LIANZA) is the professional membership organisation for the New Zealand library and information management profession. The vision of LIANZA is, "A thriving library and information sector". With a purpose to strengthen the sector to be innovative and responsive to future needs while supporting the sector to embed the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, there are opportunities for growth and development.
As a key member of the LIANZA team, you will be part of a dynamic and passionate community that is committed to connectivity and personal growth. The organisation has a national framework including Regional Communities, Interest Committees and a LIANZA Council that the Chief Executive answers to. Strategically, LIANZA is striving to build on the online pivot through social and economic challenges, to address the isolation of many people and communities.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organisation. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leadership and management, with the ability to harness talents nationwide to achieve the vision. The role works remotely, connecting with members across the country, and has a small Association staff group. There are opportunities to support events and initiatives across the country and big aspirations by the membership.
The role is strategic and needs to map a way forward with the LIANZA Council to navigate economic pressures, complex social issues, technological advancements, and evolving political landscapes - and what this means for the future of a library professionals' Association.
About YouWe are looking for a passionate and experienced leader who is committed to the vision of LIANZA. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leadership and management, with the ability to foster member engagement in a dynamic environment and build trust, ensuring that our community consistently relies on us for guidance and support.
The ideal candidate will be a source of foresight about the future and the opportunities it holds for connecting more Māori and multicultural communities into information and literature. Advocacy in support of local areas is important to respond to national and local changes that affect the library and information sector.
