Electricity Compliance Connections Manager
2 weeks ago
About the Role
At National Grid, we're committed to creating a cleaner, greener energy system for Great Britain. As a key member of our Connection Operations Team, you'll play a vital role in guiding customers through the process of connecting to our energy system, making it as easy as possible for them to navigate the route.
We strive to deliver excellence by seeking, listening, and acting on feedback to drive continuous improvements to our ways of working and build trusted relationships with all our stakeholders.
As an Electricity Compliance Manager, you'll lead and manage the connections compliance processes to deliver and maintain compliant customer connections against the contractual framework, technical appreciation, and industry codes. You'll provide all necessary assurance of compliance to the business, facilitate timely new customer connections to the required standards, and exceed our customers' expectations.
About Us
We're aiming to operate a zero-carbon electricity system for Great Britain by 2025, using wind, solar, and hydropower without relying on any carbon-based generators to balance the grid. In 2024, we'll transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator (NESO), an independent body responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.
As NESO, we'll build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working to create an organisation the energy system and its users need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas, and hydrogen, and consider the trade-offs between them.
About You
We're looking for someone with extensive experience of effectively dealing with customers, leading to dispute resolution, and managing multiple projects to a high standard. You'll need expert knowledge of the Grid Code, CUSC, STC, and associated governance structures and regulatory frameworks, as well as the electricity transmission system, equipment, and users' network design.
You'll also need to be able to understand complex issues and offer users viable solutions, considering the impact on the electricity system, and explain complex contractual issues to customers in simple terms. Strong links established across ESO to ensure any interdependencies on projects are understood and explained to the end user are essential.
What You'll Get
As an Electricity Compliance Manager, you'll receive a competitive salary between £45,000-£64,000 p.a. dependent on experience and capability, a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we'll double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
You'll also have access to a comprehensive benefits package tailored to support your well-being and professional success, including flexible work arrangements, fit for purpose wellbeing and lifestyle offerings, ongoing skill development aligned to our Purpose and Values, and be part of a supportive community that values your individuality and where you can belong.
Key Accountabilities
You'll effectively co-ordinate cross-functional project teams and external customers and stakeholders, including Transmission Owners, Distribution Owners, and Developers, to deliver and maintain customer connection projects in a timely manner and in line with the contractual framework and industry codes.
You'll build and develop collaborative and trusted partnerships across a portfolio of highly complex projects to deliver value and ensure future compliance is achieved, all technical requirements are met, and stability of the system is maintained.
You'll lead the delivery of complex projects to continuously improve customer satisfaction, anticipating challenges and developing new solutions to drive change, ensuring all customers' queries are resolved swiftly and in full.
You'll pro-actively identify any associated connection compliance risks, prioritise and drive the development of solutions to mitigate these risks for the overall benefit of customers, stakeholders, and the business.
You'll pro-actively identify, prioritise, and drive the continual improvement of internal and external processes through implementation of change initiatives.
You'll accurately record and effectively manage data in all appropriate systems, ensuring compliance with licence, industry codes, and GDPR.
You'll deliver seamless and efficient services both internally and externally for our customers and stakeholders.
