Cardiothoracic Surgeon Position

Job Summary
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Cardiac Surgeon to join our expanding aortic programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality adult cardiac services, including approximately 900-1,000 cases per annum and thoracic workload of up to 500 cases per annum.
Main Duties
The postholder will be expected to provide a service in Cardiothoracic Surgery with responsibility for adult cardiac surgery. This will include participating in the out-of-hours On-Call service, providing cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues during periods of leave, and taking part in medical audit and research as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality adult cardiac services, including approximately 900-1,000 cases per annum and thoracic workload of up to 500 cases per annum.
- Participate in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department.
- Provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues during periods of leave.
- Take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- Ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have specific training or experience in aortic surgery and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff and take responsibility for teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as required.
