Job Title: Lead Pricing Model Developer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Pricing Model Developer to lead the development and maintenance of our new cloud-based pricing platform. As a key member of the Pricing & Analytics team, you will be responsible for shaping our model code base, instilling best practices, and driving innovation in pricing models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of reusable components, including standardized UI, pricing APIs, and model versioning.
  • Supply documentation for pricing actuaries to develop their own pricing tools, providing a common framework to leverage best practices.
  • Ensure the platform enables faster development of pricing tools with scalability across models and to a wide group of developers within Pricing.
  • Improve consistency of pricing model data capture and ability to reuse that data for other purposes.
  • Facilitate connections to third-party services/data and integration with other internal systems.
  • Improve user experience within pricing models.
  • Establish and leverage a strong network of relationships with Ops & Tech, Pricing, and UW to design and implement solutions.
  • Support migration of existing pricing models to the new platform.
  • Create consistent technical documentation for pricing models within the platform.
  • Effectively manage junior resources to migrate and improve pricing models.
Requirements
  • Experience in insurance pricing.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Technical aptitude with experience programming (R/Python, Shiny, SQL, VBA) and working with other technical teams (Ops & Tech).
  • Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field.
  • Ability to think strategically with a passion for innovation and a desire to utilize new technologies.
  • Pragmatic and results-driven.
Desired Skills and Abilities
  • Experience developing production-standard R code (R Shiny applications, Plumber API's).
  • Experience working with microservice architecture.
  • GIT best practices.
  • Coding best practices (code and code base structure organisation).
  • Experience with core actuarial concepts and with pricing models for commercial lines of business.
