About the Flying Start Programme

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a dedicated Childcare Worker to join its Flying Start Programme, a Welsh Government-funded initiative that provides intensive support services for children and their families.

The programme aims to promote language, cognitive, social, and emotional skills, physical development, and the early identification of high needs through health support and guidance, parenting groups, and free part-time childcare.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with 2 to 3 year olds in the Flying Start areas of Barry, providing high-quality childcare and supporting their development.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working with babies and young children and their families
  • Planning, organisation, and implementation of play activities for young children
  • Knowledge of CIW requirements for Regulated Childcare
  • Good knowledge of how to support children's development
  • Understanding of Key Worker system
  • Motivation and enthusiasm for the role
  • Flexible and committed approach to work
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development, NNEB, or equivalent relevant qualification for Early Years and Childcare
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh essential
