Job Overview

The role of an Occupational Therapist in our Older Adult Community Mental Health Team is to provide high-quality care and support to service users with complex mental health needs. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for carrying out evidence-based assessments, developing and implementing personalized occupational therapy plans, and providing supervision and guidance to junior staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • To assess and manage a defined caseload of service users, using evidence-based principles to identify and address barriers to participation in valued life roles.
  • To develop and deliver occupational therapy interventions, including group work and individualized plans, aimed at improving participation and recovery in life roles.
  • To work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide occupational therapy advice and support, and to participate in the planning and development of the OT service.
  • To provide supervision and guidance to junior staff, and to contribute to the ongoing professional development of the team.
  • To maintain accurate records and reports, and to adhere to the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in mental health and community services. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Occupational Therapy and significant experience working with older adults. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
