Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Local Government Finance Support Officer to join our Finance Operations team.

">

The successful candidate will provide critical support to Adult Social Care (ASC) and Health teams, working within the Debt Resolution Team to resolve debt-related issues and disputes.

">

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and understanding of Local Government Finance while building strong working relationships with service areas and customers.

  • You must be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering high-quality results
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for managing challenging conversations with customers
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in using software applications relevant to the role, are necessary
  • You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Work with service areas to identify the root causes of invoice queries and reduce repeated queries that prevent/delay payment
  • Agree and arrange instalment repayment plans in line with agreed processes
  • Identify non-collectable debt and collate write-off schedules for processing
  • Query management, working directly with customers and service areas to ensure all queries are followed through and resolved within a timely manner
  • Build strong working relationships with service areas and customers to aid improved query resolution and timely collection of debts due

  • Salary: £25,188 - £25,590 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Contract Type: Permanent
