HV Electrical Designer

Morrison Energy Services is seeking a skilled HV Electrical Designer/Manager to join our Net Zero (EV) team, responsible for designing and installing rapid and ultra-rapid EV chargers and associated electrical infrastructure across the UK.

• Design and develop high and low voltage electrical distribution systems connected to low voltage electrical systems of EV chargers.
• Ensure successful delivery of design and technical solutions to meet customer expectations.
• Conduct or manage site visits to assess project feasibility and identify potential issues related to high and low voltage systems.
• Review project requirements and specifications to ensure designs meet standards and regulations.
• Create technical drawings and specifications for high and low voltage systems.
• Liaise with Civils designers as necessary.
• Manage and track a pipeline of designs through to pricing and construction.
• Ensure instructed projects are tracked against key milestones to facilitate accurate forecasting of work and resources.
• Protect MES contractually and commercially for any delays in the design process.
• Maximise revenue and profit from customer contracts through identifying opportunities for cost savings and additional chargeable activities.
• Build and maintain constructive relationships with customers in line with MGS core values.

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Deep understanding of the electricity industry, including trends, competitors, and market conditions.
• Ability to manage and track multiple projects concurrently.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to listen to customer needs and provide exceptional service.
• Strong technical and analytical skills to support construction and commissioning teams.
• Robust skills in preparing detailed drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Full driving license.
• Meticulous attention to detail.

• Minimum of five years experience in analysing end user electrical load requirements and designing systems.
• Minimum of five years experience working for or with organisations involved in HV and LV electrical distribution networks.
• Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and best practices.
• Strong knowledge of relevant DNO codes of practice and industry standards.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and calculating asset values for HV and LV electrical assets.
• Experience in the wayleave and easement process.
• Ideal membership of the IET.
• Minimum of five years experience working for or with organisations involved in the installation of DC EV chargers.
• Understanding of the EV infrastructure industry.
• Experience in managing a pipeline of designs for multiple customers.
• Experience in using project management software.
• Proficient in CAD software and other design tools.
