About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer Technician to join our Highway Development Implementation team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in developing your civil engineering skills and progressing your career within the council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and implementation of developer-funded highway works, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with national and local standards.
  • Visit development sites to inspect and approve highway works, collaborating with developers, consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with technical specifications and standards.
  • Assist in checking developer submissions to ensure they meet national and local standards, promoting safe working practices and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Support the development of technical reports for fellow professionals, elected members, and councillors, demonstrating a working knowledge of highway infrastructure, technical specifications, legislation, and codes of practice.

Requirements

  • Working towards or partly qualified with a professional or technical qualification, such as HNC/HND, EngTech.
  • Considerable relevant experience in civil engineering or a related technical discipline, including managing technical aspects of projects.
  • Working knowledge of highway infrastructure, technical specifications, legislation, and codes of practice.
  • Experience of drafting technical reports for professionals and elected members.
