Operations Manager Job Description

As a key member of Gibson Search, the Operations Manager plays a critical role in leading the company's operations to meet business objectives. This position requires a technical qualification or proven experience in a technical organization, along with expertise in ISO9001 and ISO14001.

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing EHS, Engineering, Quality, Production, Procurement, and Logistics to ensure all activities operate effectively and in compliance with legal and contractual obligations. This role also involves reviewing and developing the business unit to achieve market-leading performance in terms of safety, quality, lead time, and competitiveness.

Working closely with four managers who report to this position, the Operations Manager will define business unit-specific performance KPIs to monitor operational success against overall business objectives. This includes supporting the implementation of actions, instigating and leading projects to ensure continual improvement and productivity using best practice and lean principles.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills to motivate a high-performing team, carrying out appraisals, reviews, and producing training and development plans. A strong financial and business-related background, including commercial appreciation, is essential for this role.

The Operations Manager will also be responsible for ensuring knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, this role offers a management bonus, approximately 25 days of holiday with the option to purchase additional holiday, 5% employer pension contribution, life assurance, health cash plan, employee assistance program, and early finish Fridays.
