Job Summary

This position provides clinical services in the Mental Health & Wellness Department at the Commonwealth of Virginia, including individual and group interventions congruent with the level of skill and training. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing documentation in inmate health records and ensuring that documentation is completed by the end of the workday, while entering relevant data into CORIS and other databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical services to inmates, including individual and group interventions
  • Completes documentation in inmate health records and ensures timely completion
  • Enters relevant data into CORIS and other databases
  • Participates in Mental Health & Wellness department team meetings and implements interventions as determined by the team and supervisor
  • Reports critical mental health needs immediately to the Mental Health Clinician Sr and collaborates with other staff as needed
Requirements
  • Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop intervention and treatment plans
  • Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling/therapy
  • Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory, and ethical practices
  • Demonstrated ability to provide training
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to participate in treatment team and interdisciplinary meetings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in a related human services field from an accredited university or college
  • Experience providing mental health services in a correctional, forensic, outpatient, or other setting
  • Licensed as a clinician, QMHP, or QMHP eligible as dictated by the Code of Virginia
