Job Title: Pupil Support Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Pupil Support Assistant. The successful candidate will provide support to children and young people with additional support needs, assisting them with their personal needs and promoting their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support learning and teaching activities, providing a positive and supportive learning environment for children with additional support needs.
  • Assist children and young people with their personal needs, including medical care and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Support pupils with their mobility needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to provide a comprehensive support service to children and young people with additional support needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, young people, and their families, promoting a sense of belonging and inclusion.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children and young adults in a caring and supportive environment.
  • Ability to observe professional confidentiality and implement sound judgment.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with children, young people, and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to assist young people with special educational needs in personal and medical care.
  • Ability to express a patient and non-confrontational approach when dealing with children and young people who display challenging behavior.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and tolerance, responding positively to a variety of additional support needs.
  • Ability and commitment to undertake further training and development as required.

Working Arrangements:

This is a temporary position until 27 June, with a closing date of 27 September. The successful candidate will work 16 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, term time only.
