Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Endocrinology Consultant to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Paediatric Endocrinology service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients with endocrine disorders, including diabetes and metabolic bone disease.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term locum post to cover a 12-month period, providing endocrine, bone, and diabetes clinical services for outpatients, inpatients, and supporting our existing sub-specialty services. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver secondary and tertiary endocrine services, including on-site and virtual clinics, and inpatient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients with endocrine disorders, including diabetes and metabolic bone disease.
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver secondary and tertiary endocrine services.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the national severe complex OI service and metabolic bone service and research studies.
  • Support undergraduate learning and participate in research and audit activities.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Medical Degree from a recognised University.
  • CCT in Paediatrics and training in Endocrinology to tertiary level as defined by BSPED, or equivalent experience and competencies.
  • Child protection Level 3 training.
  • Basic Life Support.

Eligibility

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Full GMC registration.
  • GMC specialist registration (or within 6 months of obtaining CCT) in Paediatrics and Endocrinology (or recognised equivalent if outside the UK).
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.

Language Skills

The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are competent to enable effective communication with patients and colleagues.
