About the Role

Ferrovial Construction is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join our team on the Edgcote viaduct project. As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with site management, technical specialists, and commercial staff to ensure the project runs smoothly.
  • Monitor work progress and implement project safety initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of environmental awareness and behavior.
  • Drive quality delivery through effective planning and right-first-time delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant, trainee engineering, and technician staff.
  • Monitor and record delivery against the agreed programme and construction methods.
  • Ensure drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works.
  • Request any missing information in sufficient time to meet the programme.
  • Ensure works are accurately and clearly set out before work commences.
  • Record verbal instructions received from the client/designer's representative.
  • Ensure Inspection and Test Plans and checklists are in place and followed at the appropriate stages.
  • Complete daily diary records and ensure they are maintained by others under your supervision.
  • Assist in preparing 'look ahead' programmes in conjunction with supervisory staff, coordinated with the overall site programme.
  • Monitor and report progress against 'look ahead' programmes.
  • Prepare written risk assessments and activity plans for the control of the works.
  • Ensure written risk assessments and activity plans/method statements are in place prior to works commencing.
  • Ensure COSHH assessments are in place for materials to be used and that the requirements are being followed.
  • Ensure testing/sampling of materials is carried out as required by the specification.
  • Record and report Non-Conformances and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Ensure materials and workmanship meet the specification and maintain appropriate records and proofs.
  • Contribute to the monthly and quarterly commercial forecast and reporting for your section of works.
  • Provide accurate setting out for works before work is programmed to commence, allowing time for independent checking.
  • Arrange formal checking of setting out and ensure check request form is completed.
  • Ensure material delivery tickets are passed to the section engineer for cost coding.
  • Carry out testing/sampling of materials as required by the specification.
  • Carry out site measures for control and ordering of materials. Take receipt of materials and check description, quantity, markings, and condition before signing for receipt.
  • Ensure comprehensive records of all resources employed on additional works are maintained and submitted for signature within 24 hours of the work being carried out.
  • Complete Observation cards if you observe something unsafe, damaging to the environment, or good enough where required with the consent, work preparation, and execution phase for the preparation of Thames Wharf.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven experience of working with setting-out structures and civil engineering/building construction.
  • Prior experience in Civil Engineering.
