The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of chemical dosing systems and controls, as well as client and customer control system requirements and specifications. This knowledge is essential for leading the development of control systems capability in accordance with the strategic plan of the business.

About the Role

This Commissioning Engineer position requires a technical expert who can safely commission chemical dosing systems in accordance with QA and commissioning plans. The successful candidate will lead the development of control systems capability and ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with project management procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop functional design specifications from project specifications, P&IDs, and user requirement specifications.
  2. Analyze dosing systems drawings and specifications, including P&IDs, FDS, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  3. SPECIFY AND ASSIST IN THE PREPARATION OF QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA) AND TESTING PLANS FOR SYSTEM BUILD AND INSTALLATION, INCLUDING FACTORY ACCEPTANCE TESTS (FAT) AND SITE ACCEPTANCE TESTS (SAT).
  4. Write and modify control software and user interface graphics/HMIs.
  5. Create purchasing and/or build specifications and designs for control systems, panels, and instrumentation using typical water utility/WIMES standards.
  6. Engage and manage third-party control system manufacturers to ensure required levels of innovation, competency, quality, and compliance.
  7. Prepare risk assessments and method statements for testing and commissioning activities in accordance with company and client requirements.
  8. Conduct electrical installation tests and certify results in accordance with legal and company requirements.
  9. Conduct QA and other test plans for system build and installation, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  10. Commission chemical dosing systems on water at client sites and assist clients during commissioning on chemicals.
  11. Troubleshoot and resolve problems arising during testing and commissioning.
  12. Prepare training manuals from O&M and other technical documentation.
  13. Prepare and issue test and commissioning reports in accordance with contract requirements.
About You

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in chemical dosing systems and controls, as well as experience in leading the development of control systems capability.

Our estimate for this role is £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. This figure includes a salary range, reflecting the skills and qualifications required for this position.
