Job Opportunity for a SEND Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teacher to join our team at a Special School in Colchester. As a SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with a range of complex needs, including autism and communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEND students, promoting their academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring every student feels valued and supported.
  • Provide targeted support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, including those with autism, to help them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed to ensure every student receives the best possible education.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive student support and promote a collaborative approach to education.
  • Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment, prioritizing the well-being and safety of all students.
  • Contribute to the school's broader initiatives to promote student well-being and achievement, working collaboratively with colleagues to drive positive change.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience teaching SEND students is desirable, but not essential; a strong understanding of SEND teaching methods and a commitment to inclusive education are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
