Job Opportunity: SEND Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teacher to join our team at a Special School in Colchester. As an SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with complex needs, including autism and communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEND students, ensuring every child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff to create a positive learning environment that promotes student well-being and achievement.
  • Student Support: Provide support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, including autism, and assess, monitor, and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive student support and maintain a safe and structured classroom environment.
  • Professional Development: Contribute to the school's broader initiatives to promote student well-being and achievement, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications and Experience: A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) and previous experience teaching SEND students is desirable, but not essential.
  • SEND Teaching Methods: A strong understanding of SEND teaching methods and excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Safeguarding: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
