About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Business Partner to join our management accounting team at The National Archives. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in supporting the business by providing financial expertise and guidance to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial advice and support to Directorates, including reviewing business cases and financial implications.
  • Present financial information to Senior Management Teams and communicate complex financial issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business, including policies and cost drivers, to ensure effective management and monitoring of spend.
  • Lead on month-end and year-end activities, ensuring accurate and correct management information.
  • Challenging and supporting Directors and Budget Managers in managing spend on a portfolio basis, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Lead on financial planning and forecasting exercises, supporting business areas in identifying funding requirements.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the business and in other support functions to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Manage two Management Accountants, leading, motivating, and developing them.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified Accountant with significant experience in communicating complex financial issues.
  • Highly motivated and effective organiser, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Significant experience in leading on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Extensive experience in maintaining effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience in reviewing business cases and investment appraisal.
  • Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, able to influence and communicate clearly.
Desirable Criteria
  • Understanding of accounting policy and appreciation of Government legislation and accounting standards.
