Academic Support Assistant Role Overview

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Academic Support Assistant to join our team in a specialist school in Swindon. As an Academic Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who face developmental trauma, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your primary responsibility will be to identify triggers and facilitate therapeutic techniques to promote students' mental well-being.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and therapists. Experience working with young children or a degree in a relevant field, such as Psychology or Sociology, is desirable but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students with additional needs
  • Identify triggers and facilitate therapeutic techniques to promote students' mental well-being
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individual learning plans
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment
