Job Overview

Bristol City Council is seeking a highly skilled Senior Practitioner to take on the role of Mental Capacity Act Lead within the Adult Care Workforce Development Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating, designing, and delivering high-quality training programs for the adult social care workforce.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced professional who can provide advanced practice expertise and guidance to ensure compliance with statutory duties and responsibilities related to the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to identify, design, and deliver training programs, as well as commission additional learning and development opportunities to meet the needs of the wider workforce.

You will work closely with individual practitioners, Adult Care operational teams, training providers, and partner agencies to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning and development activities. Your role will also involve managing the quality assurance of MCA/DoLS-related practice and training.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate, design, and deliver Mental Capacity Act and DoLS training for the Adult Social Care workforce
  2. Provide advanced practice expertise and guidance to ensure compliance with statutory duties and responsibilities
  3. Identify, design, and deliver training programs, as well as commission additional learning and development opportunities
  4. Work closely with stakeholders to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning and development activities
  5. Manage the quality assurance of MCA/DoLS-related practice and training

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mental capacity act or similar field
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
