Job Description:
As a Regional Technician, you will be part of a dynamic team working with Lifeboat Station Mechanics, Lifeguards, Contractors, and other technical staff. Your primary responsibilities will include planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and defect repair on Lifeguard equipment, Lifeboats, and launching equipment across North and East regions.

Your duties will also involve trials of existing and repaired equipment, requiring excellent mechanical and electrical knowledge. You should have a desire to stay current with existing technology and be willing to learn and participate in the roll out and assessment of new equipment, which is constantly evolving within RNLI's search and rescue assets.

A good understanding of electrical and electronic systems would be an advantage. Additionally, you may be required to possess a forklift license, driving license B+E for towing, IOSH, Working at Height, PASMA, and PA testing certifications, although training will be provided if necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
You will need a time-served mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic engineering. A full driving license, willingness to work out of hours, and flexibility to be on a call-out roster are also essential. Beneficial but not essential qualifications include driving license B+E for towing, forklift license, IOSH, Working at Height, PASMA, and PA testing. If required, training will be provided for these certifications.

The successful candidate will have a sound background and experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic engineering; England, Wales & Northern Ireland NVQ level 3, Scotland SVQ Level 5, Republic of Ireland NFQ Level 5 minimum or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
