Job Description

The role of the Senior Buyer is to work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to ensure timely supply of approved materials at cost-effective prices while maintaining quality and delivery requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Purchasing Manager in maintaining strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to develop robust and efficient supply chains.
  • Negotiating supply contracts and drafting terms and conditions for suppliers.
  • Supporting the Purchasing Manager in maintaining the company's ERP system, specifically SAP.
  • Providing assistance in resolving supply chain constraints and implementing action plans with operational leadership.
  • Issuing Purchase Orders for suppliers and providing documentation on custom materials.
  • Resolving differences with regard to supplier costs, quality, deliveries, and payments.
  • Ensuring Purchase Order delivery dates and confirmations are up to date at all times and reporting any issues to the Operations team.
  • Reviewing SAP daily in regard to Material Lists, Traffic Lights, expedite/deferrals.
  • Reviewing Past Stock Transfer Order and Purchase Order lines and ensuring On Time delivery through effective order management.
  • Validating Supplier invoices.
  • Reviewing SAP and updating Master Data.
  • Monitoring Supplier Delivery and Quality Performance, producing forecast information using various reports, and feeding this back to Suppliers through monthly meetings.
  • Processing delivery discrepancies and Vendor Rejects and raising Supplier corrective Action Requests.
  • Assisting with reviewing and adjusting Safety stock levels and raising Purchase Orders to replenish stock for Remote Sites.

Requirements:

  • Experience or involvement with MRPII/ERP/Advanced Planning Systems (SAP Preferred).
  • Three years' experience of buying raw materials within a manufacturing fast-paced environment.
  • Broad end-to-end supply chain and operations process knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and colleagues in all functions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience of dealing with international suppliers.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set timeframes.
  • Must have the availability to travel occasionally as required.
