About the Role

The Senior Buyer will work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of approved materials. This involves negotiating contracts with suppliers, maintaining strong relationships, and supporting the Purchasing Manager in maintaining robust and efficient supply chains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in developing and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
  • Build partnerships with suppliers to negotiate the best terms, prices, and service level agreements.
  • Lead the qualification efforts on prospective vendors based on documented processes and vendor surveys.
  • Lead the ECO process for purchasing, working with the BOMAG team to ensure timely completion.
  • Understand demand requirements and react decisively to resolve supply chain constraints.
  • Issue Purchase Orders for suppliers and provide documentation on custom materials.
  • Resolve differences with regard to supplier costs, quality, deliveries, and payments.
  • Ensure Purchase Order delivery dates and confirmations are up to date.
  • Review SAP daily in regard to Material Lists, Traffic Lights, and expedite/defer decisions.
  • Validate Supplier invoices and review SAP to update Master Data.
  • Monitor Supplier Delivery and Quality Performance and produce forecast information.
  • Process delivery discrepancies and Vendor Rejects, and raise Supplier corrective Action Requests.
  • Support the buyers in monitoring exception messages and outstanding Purchase orders.

Requirements:

  • Experience or involvement with MRPII/ERP/Advanced Planning Systems (SAP preferred).
  • Three years' experience of buying raw materials in a manufacturing fast-paced environment.
  • Broad end-to-end supply chain and operations process knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
