Job Description

The role of the Senior Buyer is to work closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to ensure timely supply of approved materials at cost-effective prices while maintaining quality and delivery requirements. Key responsibilities include negotiating supply contracts, drafting terms and conditions for suppliers, and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to develop robust and efficient supply chains. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and operating the company's ERP system, specifically SAP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in maintaining strong relationships with new and existing suppliers.
  • Negotiate supply contracts and draft terms and conditions for suppliers.
  • Support the Purchasing Manager in developing robust and efficient supply chains.
  • Maintain and operate the company's ERP system, specifically SAP.
  • Understand demand requirements and react decisively to resolve supply chain constraints.
  • Issue Purchase Orders for suppliers and provide documentation on custom materials.
  • Resolve differences with regard to supplier costs, quality, deliveries, and payments.
  • Ensure Purchase Order delivery dates and confirmations are up to date at all times.
  • Review SAP daily in regard to Material Lists, Traffic Lights, expedite/deferrals.
  • Review Past Stock Transfer Order and Purchase Order lines and ensure On Time delivery through effective order management.
  • Validate Supplier invoices.
  • Review SAP and update Master Data.
  • Monitor Supplier Delivery and Quality Performance.
  • Process delivery discrepancies and Vendor Rejects and raise Supplier corrective Action Requests.
  • Assist with reviewing and adjusting Safety stock levels and raising Purchase Orders to replenish stock for Remote Sites.

Requirements:

  • Experience or involvement with MRPII/ERP/Advanced Planning Systems (SAP Preferred).
  • Three years' experience of buying raw materials within a manufacturing fast-paced environment.
  • Broad end-to-end supply chain and operations process knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and colleagues in all functions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience of dealing with international suppliers.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set timeframes.
  • Must have the availability to travel occasionally as required.
